Privacy policy
NineSquare is a free Sudoku game made by Shailendra Karambe (WornKeys). In short: NineSquare has no accounts, no ads and no analytics, and it does not collect your personal data. Your games stay on your phone.
What the app stores, and where
NineSquare keeps the following only on your device:
- your games: digits, notes, undo history, times, mistakes and hints used;
- your stats: solves, streaks and play sessions;
- your settings: language, digit style, gameplay helpers, display options, reminder and coffee-prompt preferences.
None of this is sent to the developer or to any server run by the developer. NineSquare has no server.
Android backup
If backup is turned on on your phone, Android may copy NineSquare’s data to your Google account and restore it on a new phone, or move it during a device transfer. Google handles this backup under its own privacy policy; the developer can’t see it. You can turn backup off in your phone’s settings.
Notifications
Puzzle reminders are off unless you turn them on. They’re created on your phone from your own play history, which never leaves the device. You can turn them off at any time in the app’s Settings or from the notification itself.
Buying a coffee
You can choose to buy a “coffee” inside the app, an optional tip that unlocks nothing. Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play:
- the developer never sees your card, UPI or other payment details;
- Google gives the developer the usual order record for a sale (such as an order number, the item, the price and the country), which is used only to keep accounts and handle refunds;
- to make purchases work, the app uses Google’s Play Billing library, which talks to Google Play and may send Google technical information about the purchase flow.
Google’s privacy policy applies to these purchases: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Fonts
NineSquare asks Google Play services on your phone for its two fonts, Open Sans and Roboto Slab. Google Play services may download them from Google if your phone doesn’t have them yet. No information about you or your games is included in that request.
When you write to the developer
The app’s Feedback and Report a problem buttons open your own email app with a message addressed to the developer. Nothing is sent until you press Send. A problem report is pre-filled with the app version, phone model and Android version, so the problem can be fixed; you can delete them before sending. Your email is used only to reply and to improve the app, and is never sold or shared.
What NineSquare does not do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No advertising and no advertising ID.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or tracking services.
- No location, contacts, camera, microphone or file access.
- No selling or sharing of personal data.
Permissions
- Notifications: only if you turn on puzzle reminders.
- Internet: the app makes no network requests of its own. Google’s Play Billing library adds this permission so that Google Play can process coffee purchases.
Children
NineSquare is a general-audience puzzle game. It doesn’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Deleting your data
Everything is on your device. To delete it, clear NineSquare’s storage in Android Settings → Apps → NineSquare → Storage, or uninstall the app. To delete a copy in your Google account backup, use your Google account’s backup settings.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects your privacy, this page will be updated and the effective date changed.
